Vaughn Wilk returned from a long injury layoff to Win the Prarie City Lilliputian X-Country event.
It's more than ironic that my ("Dicks") first D36 race was at this event on a Yamaha YZ125 37 years ago. Now, my son Vaughn is the Overall winner of the historic event, also Yamaha mounted.
I know this feeling, the win secured, headed to the finish line. So Proud of You Vaughn.....More to Come.

Vaughn was fortunate to have the opportunity to stay at the Randy Hawkins compound for 3 weeks in preparation for the last round of the GNCC series in Indiana. He got to experience the life of a factory rider for a time and said it was"like a vacation". Unfortunately, disaster struck in the second corner, just after the 1st corner photo, that left him with a broken foot. He soldiered on for over 3 hours unable to put any weight on his left foot. Still, he finished and lives to race another day. Stay tuned for what happens next.....
October 15th, 2015
After starting about 6th, Vaughn worked his way through the pack for another convincing win. Now, he is off to race the last GNCC with the factory Yamaha squad in Indiana. Stay tuned for updates...

Since moving to our new facility in Southern Utah, we have been fortunate to form an alliance with Rocky Mountain ATV/MC as a source for motorcycles. This is the 3rd bike we have developed and turned into a magazine project in less than 3 months. Our new working arrangement permits more time for testing and development as well as special projects like this KX450 converted for off road.

After completing the KTM 300 magazine bike, we thought it would be cool to do a 250 2-stroke as well. Since the engine and carb were the same as a 250sx, we knew just what to do. Look for a full review in the pages of MXA magazine.
April 16th, 2014
This bike started out as a 250SX, then was transformed into a 300cc fire breathing monster. Not your average 300, it received extensive carb, cylinder and head mods that made 450's tremble. Chuck Sun raced this bike at the World 2-Stroke championship at Glen Helen to a 2nd place finish in the 50+ class. Rocky Mountain ATV/MC provided the bike for the test as well as TUSK wheels and Attack graphics. Look for a full test in Motocross Action Magazine coming soon.

June 03rd, 2013
A 120 mile course featuring endless single track whoops done frontwards on day 1 and backwards on day 2 could not stop the freight train known as the Dicks Racing Team. Wherever these guys go, they are trouble for the competition. This weekend was no different.
Day 1 had 6 special tests, of which, Ross Neely won them all. 2nd for the day was World Trophy Team member and ISDE Gold medalist Jordan Brandt, riding a borrowed Husaberg with Dicks suspension. Behind him was Vaughn Wilk, despite doing a big getoff in the 4th specialtest, hung tough to the finish.
Day 2 saw more of the same from Neely, winning all four special tests for the day. Behind him, the order reversed, with Wilk claiming 2nd and Brandt 3rd.
After 2 full days and 240 miles of racing, scores are added together to determine the overall finish positions. Clearly, Neely dominated the action making it 3 big wins in row(see previous news articles). His teamates, Wilk and Brandt claimed 2nd and 3rd Overall respectively. They all had 1 thing in common, great suspension. At a race like this, you can't pretend to have stuff that works, either it does or it doesn't. In this case, the results do the talking. Next up is the National Hare Scrambles in Oregon in July, stay tuned for more race action...
April 29th, 2013
Ross Neely won the VCGP for the forth time of his young career aboard his Mach 1 Motorsports sponsored Yamaha WR450. The machine has proven to be ultra-reliable and very versatile, winning events at Moto tracks, National Hare scrambles and now Virginia Cty. The list of victims featured a stellar cast of riders, including H&H / Baja Champ Kendall Norman, D-36 / Hare Scrambles Champ Brian Garrahan, current D-36 #1 Justin Bonita, and last years winner Rodney Spencer. Once into the lead, Ross piloted his superior suspended machine to a staggering 8 minute victory. This marks his second win in a row and third of the season. His teamate, Vaughn Wilk showed up last minute, started last and blindly worked through the dust to 5th overall at the 3 hour mark. Unfortunately, his foam tubes melted from the abuse and he could continue no further. These two riders head for the Idaho City Qualifier next, so stay tuned for more race action...

April 16th, 2013
At the Shasta Dam GP, a combined event that was round 3 of the National Hare Scrambles series and round 7 of the D-36 X-Country series, Mach 1 / Dicks Racing sponsored Ross Neely won the the battle of off-road supemacy. In the process, he defeated round 1 winner Gary Sutherlin by almost 2 minutes, current D-36 champ Justin Bonita by over 2 minutes and current National #1 Cory Graffunder by almost 3 minutes. His race machine, a 2012 WR450F has a stock motor with Dicks modified suspension, good enough for his 2nd win of the season. His teamate, Vaughn Wilk, had a last place start, but sliced through the pack to catch and pass Graffunder on the second lap. The two waged a war the rest of the way with Wilk coming up just seconds short at the finish. Behind him, the 3rd member of the TEAM, Steven Godman, was also on the move charging to catch Wilk on the last lap but experienced brake problems and had to back off to get to the finish. Another great weekend of racing, next race is May 27th, stay tuned for more exciting race action....
April 10th, 2013
At round 6 of the D-36 X-Country series, team riders Ross Neely, Vaughn Wilk, and Steven Godman had steady rides to take 3 of the top 7 spots. The AA row went off with a bang, as they rounded the first corner Vaughn Wilk (#8) shot into the lead, with team mate Neely (#246r) just behind. Godman (#14) was still at the line and had to come from last. As the dusty race wore on mistakes were frequent, like the one Wilk made overshooting a corner and flying off a cliff. Luckily, he was ok and went back up the hill and got back on course. Neely was there to capitalize on the miscue and made the pass. Meanwhile, Godman continued his charge through the pack to finish a respectable 7th overall. Back at the front, Neely battled for the win coming up a bit short. Round 7 is this coming weekend, stay tuned...
February 28th, 2013
Round 4 of the 2013 X-Country series was held at the E-Street MX track in Marysville, 30 miles North of Sacramento. The AA race was the last race of the day making the sandy conditions as rough as possible. Team rider, Steven Godman led early, followed by Neely and Dicks Racing's own Vaughn Wilk close behind in 3rd. All 3 riders were racing different models, all Yamaha's from Mach 1 Motorsports. Eventually, Neely moved to the front on his WR 450, passing Godman on his YZ 250, just ahead of Wilk on his YZ450. As the race wore on, Neely pulled away from the other riders until just after halfway when a brake problem slowed him slightly. Still, he soldiered on to the win in dominating fashion, proving the WR 450 can win in MX conditions as well as pure off-road. Of course all 3 bikes have modified suspension which was ultra important at this event. For more info about the bikes, go to the featured bikes section for a breakdown of what was done to the bikes. Next race is in 3 weeks, stay tuned.
January 30th, 2013
2013 started with a bang at round 1 of the D-36 X-Country series at Prarie City OHV. Team riders Steven Godman, Vaughn Wilk and Ross Neely all started well. Godman was the 1st to lead on his YZ250, then Wilk took over the lead until he had bike problems. Meanwhile, Neely was heading towards the front and caught the current #1 rider Justin Bonita and they battled. Eventually, neely ended up 4th OA, while Godman rounded out the top 5. A little further back, Chaz Halbert took his Dicks Racing modified CRF250 to the A class overall win. Round 2 is Feb.10 and promises more exciting race action, stay tuned...
December 21st, 2012
Team Rider Jordan Brandt capped off the year by winning both the West-Chec and District 36 Enduro Series Titles. The Mach1 mounted Yamaha rider dominated the racing action that had him all over the state of California. Congratulations to Jordan on another solid year of racing accomplishments.
November 10th, 2012
Coming off of 2 straight A overall wins, team rider Vaughn Wilk moved up to the AA class for the event at Prarie City, home of the Handtown National MX. Perfect conditions greeted the riders for the start that led directly to the MX track, keeping his holeshot streak alive, Vaughn bolted to the front on his potent Mach 1 Yamaha WR450. From the beginning, Vaughn and current #1 plate holder Ross Neely along with fellow Yamaha rider Justin Sanders quickly seperated themselves from the rest of the pack. The battle raged for the lead for over an hour before Vaughn finally took the lead for 2 consecutive laps. Heading out onto the last lap he noticed the front end pushing in corners, which turned out to be a flat tire, he backed it down which led to another battle at the front for the overall win. In the end, Sanders took the win with Wilk just seconds behind. An exciting race for sure. Heading into the final round, the last 2 races have seen 2 first time winners, will it produce a 3rd different winner? Stay tuned to find out.
October 23rd, 2012
Proving his convincing wins the week before were no fluke, team rider Vaughn Wilk again dominated the racing action by winning the Vintage race by 16 minutes and the A class overall by almost 7 minutes. Hard work pays off, having a great bike helps, Vaughn says he is very comfortable on the New WR450 provided by MACH 1 Motorsports. No changes were made from last week other than service and tires, next race is in 2 weeks and located 30 minutes away which makes it nice for us not traveling so far. Stay tuned for more exciting racing news.
October 23rd, 2012
Riding a big bore YZ 250 built by Dicks Racing, Jordan endured 6 grueling days of tough terrain and competition to emerge with a Gold Medal. The event held South of Berlin was what he labeled as one of the "toughest ever" was made easier by Suspension that was able to tame the nasty terrain. After much testing trying different combinations, we ended up back with set-up devloped by his teamate Vaughn Wilk, who has extensive experience with the YZ 250. Jordan will finish out the year riding the 2 stroke in Enduro events throughout the state of California.
October 19th, 2012
After switching to the WR450 to continue with the devlopment of the new bike, team rider Vaughn Wilk dominated the A class at the first race back after the long Summer break. Held at the Metcalf cycle park near San Jose, racers were greeted with nice weather and a good course. Vaughn started off the weekend by racing the Vintage class on Saturday. Riding a fully modified 1981 Suzuki RM250 featuring Dicks Racing Modified engine, carb, forks, and shock, Vaughn got the holeshot and cruised to victory by over 5 minutes. On Sunday, riding the WR 450 featuring a weight loss of 16 lbs, fuel injection tuning, FMF muffler, IMS tank, Fastway handguards, Works Connection skidplate, clutch perch, Tubliss tire system, TM Designs chain guide, Dirt Tricks sprockets. Of course the main reason of development is the suspension, of which is fully altered both front and rear through countless hours of testing on KYB components. In any case, the result was the same, holeshot and won the A class overall by over 6 minutes. Thanks to MACH 1 for their continued support. The next race is this weekend so stay tuned for more exciting race action.

Vaughn Wilk trail riding in Downieville
May 08th, 2012
With the release of the new Yamaha WR 450, Mach1 / Dicks Racing Team rider Jordan Brandt will switch over from the YZ 450F to race the newest off-road offering from Yamaha. Team rider Vaughn Wilk will also switch from his YZ 250 and move up to the 2012 WR 450F for the remainder of the race season. Jordan loves the new WR, claiming it to be the best true off-road bike he has ridden. His younger teamate agrees and looks forward to winning races on the new off-road platform from Yamaha.
The first race on the ALL NEW WR 450 proved to be a worthy test at round 3 of the National Hare Scrambles series at Lake Shasta in Northern California. Jordan started in 5th place and by the last lap had worked his way into second. A couple miles from the finish while going for the lead, he ran out of gas due to a pit crew error. Bummer! A week later was the D-36 Enduro event where the NEW bike was victoroius with Brandt at the controls. Stay tuned as we develop this bike further which tranlates into even more race wins.
Many thanks to Mach1 and Yamaha for their support.
2012 Racing Season Update
March 12th, 2012
The first race of the season was in Arizona for round 1 of the National Hare Scrambles where Jordan Brandt earned a podium finish to start that series. Next, was round 1 of the D-36 X-Country series where Team Dicks Racing rider Steven Godman landed on the podium in 3rd overall in the AA class. His YZ250 teamate Vaughn Wilk also started the series strong with a solid second overall in the A class. At round 2 of the D-36 series, Steven Godman proved the 1st round result was no fluke by placing 3rd overall again, followed by his Mach1 Yamaha teamate Jordan Brandt. The next race was a combined event, round 2 of the National Hare Scrambles and round 3 of the D-36 series. Another solid podium finish for Jordan Brandt that has him 2nd in the National points chase and another 2nd overall A finish by his teamate Vaughn Wilk. To recap: Jordan Brandt - (2) National Hare Scramble Podium Finishes / Steven Godman - (2) D-36 AA Podium Finishes / Vaughn Wilk - (2) D-36 A Podium Finishes. The season is off to a good start for this trio of riders. The next race is this weekend at Hollister for round 4 of the D-36 Cross Country Seies, stay tuned.....

Make it a DOUBLE. Not only did Team Dicks Racing win the Cross Country title, now you can add the Enduro Championship to the growing list. The rider who accomplished this feat is none other than the infamous Jordan Brandt, who won over 1/2 of the races on his march to the #1 plate. For 2012, we have put together a program that will see him racing Yamaha's for Mach1 motorsports. He will contend for the AMA National Hare Scrambles title as well as the D-36 X-Country and Enduro championships. Of course, without our sponsors this would not be possible. They include:

Ross Neely had a great year, winning 6 of the 12 races overall to secure the coveted #1 plate. At this level, having support is essential. Sponsors that help our racing efforts are an important part of our success and without them championships would not be possible. We would like to thank the following:

Another race, another win. That seems to be the trend. This time the Fall Classic in Wilseyville. At the start, conditions were good with rain the night before. Soon it started to rain again as the course got even slicker. At the end of the first 14 mile loop, Ross was out front by about 30 seconds, same for the seond loop. He stopped for gas and goggles at the end of the 3rd loop with about a minute lead. That margin stayed about the same until the 5th loop when a lapper came accross in front of him, sending him down into a ditch without the bike. The 2nd place rider went by as he was crawling back up the hill but had to stop in the pits before heading out onto the last lap. This got Ross back out front on his Mach1/Dicks Racing sponsored YZF450, a lead that he kept to the finish. This marked his 6th win of the 12 race series and earned him the #1 plate for the year.
November 14th, 2011
After his overall win in California, current Nevada Desert Champion Ross Neely continued his winning ways by turning in another stellar performance. This time with epic conditions, wet dirt and a great course. The hare and hound style event was 140 miles in length and by the finish Ross was all alone in 1st place. The only changes made to his Mach1/Dicks Racing sponsored YZ 450 were 1 tooth bigger front sprocket and 2 teeth smaller rear, both provided by Dirt Tricks Sprockets, which increased the top speed enough to cruise to the victory.
November 14th, 2011
The series returned to the home of the Hangtown MX National for the second time this year. The MX track was only part of the 10 mile course that was as always wet, rocky and slippery. Great racing action though, as Ross Neely won a close one over pro flat tracker Rodney Spencer. Behind them was another Dicks Racing Team rider, Steven Godman had his best ride of the year in 3rd overall. Finally, Vaughn Wilk busted through his issues that have plagued his season and rode up to his potential as the top A rider. All three riders agree that they have a "SUSPENSION" advantage over the competition that lets them ride safer and with more confidence. The series concludes on Nov. 20 and should be an epic battle at the front, stay tuned....
October 10th, 2011
Ross Neely continued his winning ways, this time in San Jose. His team mate Jordan Brandt had bike problems the week before and ended up riding Neely's practice bike. Brandt led early as Ross moved up through the pack. By the end of the first loop which took 28 minutes, the Mach1 Yamaha YZ450's were out front running strong seperated by less than a second. The lead traded hands several times until the 5th and final lap where Ross pulled a modest lead of about 30 seconds at the finish. Jordan ended up 3rd overall just 35 seconds back, not bad considering he had not ridden the bike until the race began. Series points leader Brian Garrahan got injured before the race and DNS, leaving the door open for Neely to possibly claim the #1 plate. Racing continues next week
September 26th, 2011
After His dominating performance a week ago at the D-36 event at Honey Lake, Ross traveled South for the WORCS race at Glen Helen. In only his 3rd attempt in that series, he was able to win the highly competitive PRO2 class. Next up is another D-36 race in San Jose where Neely's teammate Jordan Brandt rejoins the series hoping to make it Dicks Racing 1-2. Stay tuned for more exciting racing news.
September 19th, 2011
At round 8 of the AMA District 36 X- Country series, Dicks Racing Team rider Ross Neely picked up right where he left off before the summer break...Winning! There have been some changes, Ross is now riding a Yamaha YZ 450 provided by MACH1 Motorsports instead of the KTM's he had been using. Meanwhile, last years champ Brian Garrahan has switched from Yamaha back to KTM. When the dust settled, the results had only gotten better for Ross who won the race by over 5 minutes. Next up is the WORCS race at Glen Helen this coming weekend...Stay tuned
June 23rd, 2011
At the Honey Lake WORCS race, Ross Neely showed his versatility by almost winning the PRO-2 class and finishing 9th overall. Not bad considering he was riding a borrowed bike from fellow Dicks Racing rider Todd Winslow who was kind enough to loan Ross a prepped KX450F. The day before, the KTM Ross was riding exploded a clutch basket which made it inoperable. No matter, Ross adapted and rode great in both the 450A qualifier and Pro-2 final. The next weekend, he rode his 04 KX250 at the MRANN race to the overall victory, again proving why he has the #1 plate.
It is GOOD to see Jordan Brandt doing well again. After his podium finish at Funky Chicken and top-5 finish at the last National Hare Scrambles, he backed it up with a solid top-10 finish at the National Enduro in Wyoming. After struggling on BMW and Gas-Gas brands, Jordan is now riding a borrowed Husaberg with Dicks Racing tuned suspension. Stay tuned as both riders look to improve their bike programs heading into the second half of the year.
June 02nd, 2011
Ross Neely is officially ON FIRE. On Memorial Day weekend in Southern California, in extremely windy conditions, Ross emerged victorious again. This time the victims were Nick Burson and Ryan Kudla. This marks the 5th off-road race win in a row for Ross who heads to the next round of the WORCS series at Honey Lake full of confidence. Also notable was fellow Dicks Racing Team Rider Jordan Brandt, who finished 5th overall ahead of current Hare Scrambles Champion Brian Garrahan.
May 03rd, 2011
This years version of the VCGP was dry/rocky/dusty. When the dust settled, Ross Neely emerged victorious for his 4th Race win in a row. It didn't come easy, stiff competition was in the form of Ryan Dudek, Rodney Spencer, Irving Powers and National Hare Scrambles Champion Brian Garrahan. In the end, Ross was able to trust his Dicks Racing tuned suspension in the rocks while his competition struggled to stay in control which translated into a +2 minute win for the young off-road star.

We took a used 06 YZ 250,rebuilt it, pumped up the performance, then added every aftermarket part made to show what is possible. The bike itself is Dick's son Vaughn's personal race bike and was used for this magazine test as a testament of our commitment to full service perfomance. We modified the suspension to suit the off-road world, did radical mods to the carb and head to improve low-end power and make the bike easier to ride and made the motor bulletproof by doing our exclusive anti-seize piston mods. This race bike oozes trickness in every detail. Look for a full breakdown and analysis in the upcoming issue of Dirt Bike Magazine.

Ross Neely strikes again, handing National HS champ Brian Garrahan another loss, this time on a KX 250 2-Stroke. This win extends his win streak to 3 and is the favorite to win the Virginia City GP in 2 weeks after a dominating win last year over Justin Soule.
April 12th, 2011
After a dominating performance over National Hare Scrambles Champ Brian Garrahan at the D-36 event, Ross kept the ball rolling by winning the MRANN desert race the following weekend, showing why he has the #1 plate in that series.
New Dicks Racing Team Riders Ross Neely and Steven Godman start 2011 season with a bang
January 18th, 2011
At round 1 of the D-36 X-Country series, typical January Prarie City OHV conditions (wet, slippery, and rocky) greeted the riders. Of the series regulars, Ross was the fastest at 3rd overall. The top 2 spots were claimed by Worcs/National MX riders Kyle Summers and Ricky Dietrich. Behind them was YZ250 mounted Steven Godman, who has made it back from a serious injury in the desert last year. Both of these guys have huge potential as the series rolls on, stay tuned....

Right after completing the 2010 KTM 250XC magazine bike that is on the cover of DIRT BIKE magazine (October issue), we began working with the new KTM 350 SXF. The goal was to show off it's versatility by doing 2 versions (MX/OFF ROAD). Armed with 2 sets of suspension, we went about learning the possibilities of the new motor/frame/linkage suspension. The outcome has been very positive, we love the bike. Like with any new model, tons of testing is required to explore all of the options. When the dust settled, we had one bike that could truly do it all.
