Jordan Brandt Wins Round 3 of D-36 X-Country Series

February 15th, 2009
Dicks Racing sponsored riders notch overall wins in both the AA and A classes, again...

On a cold and overcast day, rain threatened to spoil the conditions at the private riding facility near the recenly closed clear creek ohv area. The race started at 8:30am and funneled riders into a tight right hand corner. Brandt found himself in 4th place and quickly moved to the front, then tossed it away entering the endurocross section. This put him in last place in the AA class. Again he charged to the front, by the end of the first 12 mile loop he had a 30 second lead. Something was missing however, his helmet visor. Looking like a human torpedo, "bullethead" soldiered on to a 1 minute lead at the end of loop 2. At the end of the 3rd loop, he came in for gas and goggles, another helmet was offered but rejected in favor of the more aerodynamic version he was wearing. The remaining 3 loops went off without any drama as Brandt maintained his comfortable lead to the end. That makes him 2 for 2 in D-36 races this year. This race, Jordan rode Dick Wilk's personal 450xcw. The tighter terrain suited the smaller, less powerfull motor of the 450xcw than the 505xcf he normally races. The suspension was still the Dicks Racing APS equipped forks and revalved shock with stiffer spring. This bike also featured the new GPR steering damper/triple clamp combo featured in the Specialty parts section. The new No-Toil hi-flow filter system was utilized for this event as well as the Dicks Racing stage 1,2, and 3 carb mods featured in the Performance section of this web-site. Many thanks go out to all of our team sponsors - Ace Motorsports, Motorex oils, Dunlop tires, Cycra plastics, PG graphics, IMS tanks, Bulletproof guards, Fastway pegs, Works Connection skid plate, STR cool parts, Leo Vince exhaust, Pro-Taper bars/sprockets, MSR gear, Thunder Products intelajet, R&D racing carb parts, BRP chain guide and McCaleb racing.

The A class race marked the return of Ron Day, who missed the first 2 races to be with his newborn child (congratulations). He picked up right where he left off last year, winning the A class overall. Time stands still for Ron who is over 40 but rides like he is 20. His bike of choice is a YZ 250 with Dicks Racing modified suspension. He was quoted saying both the course and the bike were "Bitchin"
