Vaughn Wilk Wins A class Overall at Round 7 of D-36 X-Country seriesApril 08th, 2009
Dicks Racing sponsored rider Vaughn Wilk wins A-class overall again.
On March 29th, in the cold and windy Nevada desert, Vaughn Wilk came away with the overall win for the second time this season. All AA and A riders started on the front row and had to straddle the front wheel and then start the bike and begin the race. Vaughn got a 10th place start after going around teammate Jordan Brandt, who stalled going into the first corner. From there, he worked his way up to 6th at the gas stop 55 miles into the event. Going out for the last 35 mile loop, Wilk caught a group of 3 riders and tried to make a hero move and pass them all, unfortunately, there was a big hole with a big rock in it that foiled his plans. After picking himself up and restarting, he soldiered on to the finish for 6th overall, 1st A rider. Ahead of him was fellow Dicks Racing Team member Jordan Brandt, who came back from a troubled start to finish 2nd overall in the AA class.
