The World’s Trickest Yamaha?

Besides bringing down a tricked-out Honda for Toon Karsmakers to race at the Vet Worlds, Dick's Racing also brought with them a built-up test bike for MXA to get started with. The bike was festooned with more trick parts than you'll find on any two bikes. Here's a sampling of what stood out as the bike stood still. For the full test, look for it soon in the pages of Motocross Action.

Chassis - Pro-Taper rubber mounted triple clamps that feature 5-way adjustable handlebar clamps were installed so that the bar position could be moved to better accomodate bigger riders. Taller EVO bars and grips with Works Connection clutch perch assembly, rotating bar clamps and right side hot start lever were used in favor of the stock components. To further open up the riding position, STR footpeg mounts that move the pegs straight down 1\2" were essential for riders over 5'9". Fastway F6 pegs are not only wider, they offer more traction as well. The final touches included a DRD radiator lowering kit and an SDG step seat.

Brakes/Wheels - It is no secret that the YZF front brake is weak, QTM supplied their oversize front disc kit, problem solved. Dunlop provided the traction with the always popular 756 tires. Pro-Taper sprockets were used for their long lasting German quality.

Forks - Mid and compression adjuster valving was altered to provide more initial damping to keep them up in the stroke. Compression valving utilizes a 2-stage design that improves plushness on really rough tracks. Rebound damping was increased to keep the front wheel on the ground and improve tracking. Stock fork springs were used

Shock- The unique feature of this shock is the custom bypass valve that reduces uncontrolled oil flow that causes blow-through. With this valve installed, plusher damping and increased wheel traction became possible. The stock spring, increased rebound and 2-stage compression valving were utilized.

Engine - The intake side of the head is matched to the high-flow carburetor. On the exhaust side, a DRD full system was utilized for it's known power increase. As for the air supply, a No-Toil superflow system replaces the stock filter.

Carb - The stock 39mm carb is good for velocity, but lacks overall flow. To combat this, the carb is taper bored to 43mm. This increases flow by 15% without any loss of low-end response. In addition, the all new Intelajet system was installed to improve power and facilitate easier jetting changes.

Combine this with the Power Pump and Flex-Jet along with the Anti-Cavitation float bowl nut, and you have perfect carburetion. This system offers three external adjusters for low, mid and top-end power, making jetting changes at any elevation or temperature a snap.

Body - Cycra white powerflow plastic and handguards were covered with PG custom graphics, number plate backgrounds and rim decals. As for aluminum bling parts, Langston Racing sent their full array of blue parts including, brake snake, washer kit, front sprocket cover, engine plug kit, brake clevis, fork air bleeders, front brake line clamp, and gas cap vent. Works Connection also provided blue axle blocks, brake reservoir caps and skid plate.

Pro-Taper clamps allow fore & aft handlebar adjustability, Works Connection hot start is well positioned and the IntellaJet adjuster (just in font of the gas cap) is just downright trick.

The Fastway footpegs are mounted 1/2 inch lower thanks to the STR mounts.
